Now, before we tackle how we’re all going to look great in this season’s autumn coats, let’s talk practicality. I know, it’s dull. But autumn is such a variable season; the weather changes in an instant. You can leave the house in the morning in a howling gale only to be baking in the heat by lunchtime! This means that layering is key. Indeed, it is flexibility that makes the perfect autumn coat a wardrobe must have. So before you buy, think about how you might layer clothes and carry a brolly. Right, on to the fun bits…
Autumn Coat Styles
Autumn coats come in all shapes and sizes (like ladies!) and we are not ones to declare that any style is off limits to any woman. Plus, we all want slightly different things from an autumn coat. So here we will look at different styles of autumn coat and discuss how to wear them best if you’re a busty babe.
Blazer
The classic blazer is a wonderful coat shape for most women. It cinches in at the waist, and lapel or collar shapes create a plunge that interrupts the line of your bust. Always go for single breast styles here, as a double breasted line adds unnecessary bulk to your bust. As a blazer tends to be quite close fitting, it’s not ideal for layering. But aesthetically it has it all!
Bomber
From a vintage ‘50s preppy look to a more sultry and sleek leather vibe, the bomber jacket is incredibly versatile. Typically, this coat ends at the hip, has fitted cuffs and a small collar. As these jackets are lightweight, they are flattering for curvier shapes. Look for patterned designs to inject a bit of fun. They’re also ideal for layering over a hoodie on cooler casual days.
Puffer
The cosier descendant of the bomber is the puffer. This coat style has become rather a staple in high street stores for the autumn and can be cropped, bum length, belted or hooded. While winter heralds the enormous floor length duvet puffer, autumn is a rather more lightweight affair. Which is ideal for bustier ladies who don’t want to add the extra bulk to their silhouette.
Biker
Go hell for leather (or faux if you prefer) in a biker jacket. Without layering, these jackets aren’t the warmest. But they absolutely are eternally cool! If you’re busty, look for cropped styles that you can wear open. Detailed and oversized collars will make a statement and showcase your bust without making your silhouette unbalanced.
Trenchcoat
Again, single breasted looks tend to be more gentle on a busty figure. A belted trench coat looks great on curves as it highlights your waist and balances your top and bottom halves. Don’t go too long as these coats will hang from your bust and become too imposing. Trenchcoat styles that end mid thigh are better. The fewer buttons the better as this allows the coat to flare nicely which balances your hips with your bust.
Raincoat
While there’s no need to go full parka just yet, practically speaking a raincoat will undoubtedly be a blessing at some stage when you’re caught in an autumnal downpour. Lightweight waterproof fabrics and hoods are ideal, and sit well on layers. Avoid going longer than knee length. A raincoat will never make you feel utterly glamorous, so instead go for autumnal joy with bright colours!
Shacket
The hybrid shirt / jacket combo is basically a lighter weight version of the classic wool winter coat. Tweed, canvas and thicker cotton fabrics make this a snug and trendy option. However, these coats tend to have breast pockets which aren’t ideal for busty babes. If you like this style though, go for designs with oversized breast pockets. It sounds counterintuitive, but actually blends better with your bust.
With so many variations in detail, no single style should be out of the running when bustier babes choose an autumn coat. When you wear it well, these styles will see you through right into the winter months too!
