From a satin cami to an old t-shirt to nothing at all, what you choose to wear to bed is something that you may take for granted. If it ‘ain’t broke, don’t fix it! But maybe you’ll be a bit more comfortable in something else. Which can help you to sleep better… or even not sleep better if you know what we mean… (promise that this blog isn’t going to be entirely full of smutty innuendo). We’re going to check out the world of plus size nightwear and how to really love what you wear to bed.
Running hot and cold
For a lot of us, our choice of nightwear depends on our natural night time body temperature. If you tend to feel hot no matter the weather, you probably can’t believe that some people sleep in long sleeved fleecy pyjamas! Perhaps this will depend on your time of life, or where in the world you live. There’s no point freezing in a flimsy nightgown or boiling in a onesie. Your comfort must always come first.
By body shape
So, nightwear should be all about you and what makes you feel comfortable. But body shape is as good a way as any to find a starting point if you fancy browsing some alternative options.
Apple
Try two piece nightwear, either a shirt and shorts combo or a cami and shorty pants. This highlights your waist and draws attention to your bust and hips. It’s also super comfortable and our favourite for the cute / sexy balance!
Pear
Much as if you were choosing a dress, a halterneck nightdress or lingerie will look great to frame your top half, while balancing out your hips.
Rectangle
A long nightdress accentuates longer lines with uninterrupted elegance. Go for satin if you want a sultry and vintage vibe.
Hourglass
If you’re busty, you’ll probably need to think about breast support in bed as well as during the day. Go for a nightdress that has ruched cups. This will offer a gentle bust lift to prevent movement while you sleep that can cause aches and pains.
By mood
OK, it’s important to have a few different things to go to bed in. Not just because of the seasons, but because of your mood. You might be in the mood for a good time or a cosy time, and your nightwear can reflect this!
Playful
A babydoll is a piece of lingerie that is fun and sexy. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and is a super flattering shape.
Casual
Feeling breezy, casual and relaxed in bed often calls for a massive t-shirt. And this is what lots of us like to slum around in. It is possible to get this same breeziness with a bit of added spice, though! Check out this sheer sleepshirt with cute shoulder cut outs.
Practical
If you prefer a practical night’s sleep with no risk of getting tangled in your nightwear, go for a shorty combo. Whether satin or cotton, this excellent staple of nightwear is both versatile and comfy.
No frills
Sorry, we’ve got to say it – the most no frills nightwear is, you guessed it, nothing at all! Depending on bust support, sleeping in little or nothing can simply be the most comfortable thing to do.
Under wraps
A good robe should be able to work as a quick cover up when you need to bring the milk in, and also a flirty suggestion of lingerie underneath. Satin as a fabric ticks all these boxes. Don’t forget, though, that at its most basic level, satin just feels lovely against skin. That’s really why it’s such a popular robe fabric.
If you want to stop going through the motions at bedtime and really love your nightwear, give it a bit of thought. It’s not all about look; these different styles and fabrics can lift your mood and comfort. Whether you’re at play or rest, we think that plus size nightwear can be as fun as daywear!
