March brings a lot of changes and new beginnings. It’s the start of spring, and it’s also the start of the major holidays for the year. And next up, it’s Mother’s Day! That’s right, on the 22nd of March it’s time to show the woman who brought you into the world some love, and what better way than with presents? We know that everyone is different, and so the gifts you choose should be a bit personalised, but whether it’s your own mum you want to treat, your grandma or a first time mum friend, we have some great gift choices for everyone in our gift guide.
Flowers For A Year
Since an enterprising florist thought this idea up a few years ago it’s gradually grown in popularity, and now it’s a big hit for all sorts of occasions. The idea is simple – you find a florist and buy one of their ‘flowers for a year’ package. You pay the cost-up front and give them an idea of what your mum likes, as well as her details (like a delivery address). The florist will then deliver a new bouquet of flowers to your mum every single month for the whole year, keeping her house full of colour and smelling great. It’s a lovely way to remind her that you love her all year round, and not just for Mother’s Day!
Slippers
Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love the feeling of softness between their toes? If you’ve noticed your mum’s slippers look like they’ve seen better days – or worse still she walks the house barefoot, then a nice new pair of fluffy slippers could be just what the doctor ordered. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could pair them with a matching dressing gown, quilted eye mask and a soothing face mask, giving her a nice reason to take 5 minutes out and just enjoy relaxing.
Small Indulgences
Most mums are so busy taking care of everyone else in the family that they often forget about themselves. But not this time! Spend some time gathering together a selection of little indulgences your mum loves, but doesn’t get to enjoy very often. It could be a bottle of her favourite wine, some luxury bath products, her favourite band’s new CD, or a decadent dessert to enjoy with dinner. Creating a little personalised gift basket is a great way to encourage mum to spend some time on herself, and show her just how much you care.
Shapewear
This might sound like an odd gift choice for Mother’s Day, but hear us out. Mother’s Day is all about spoiling the very first woman in your life, showing her how much you love her and making her feel special. And nothing feels better than looking your best as you saunter out to a fancy dinner. You might not want to buy a piece of shapewear yourself for her, but gift vouchers or offering her the choice of whatever piece she wants beforehand can be just as popular. Since shapewear is something many women don’t wear regularly or buy for themselves, it’s the perfect time to treat her and help her feel like a million dollars.
A Deep Clean
Another left field option, but bear with us. Give your mum the gift of time by hiring a service to deep-clean her house, top to bottom. Most people don’t deep clean their house as often as they would like, purely because it’s a very time-consuming task, and back-breaking labour to boot! But your mum probably spends a lot of time cleaning, and would really appreciate someone to come and do it for her once in a while. You can find all sorts of cleaning services who are happy to do one-off deep cleans, so get one booked in for her and tell her to kick up her feet and relax while they do all the hard work.
Have you been inspired? We hope so! The key to a good Mother’s Day is to think outside the box and try to work out what your mum, grandma or other women in your life would enjoy. Personalised gifts are always best, and time to relax while other people take on the normal jobs she does can never go wrong either! But whatever you choose to buy her, make sure you spend some quality time with your mum as well, as the love of family is the most precious gift of all.
