As December whizzes by faster than the speed of light, the 31st will be on us before we know it. And you know what that means? New Year’s Eve parties! Time to get dressed up in your best sparkly outfits, drink a bit too much and dance until midnight. But even while you’re having all that rambunctious fun, there are still a few lingerie rules you should know about for the big night.
Comfort Is Important
Contrary to popular belief, dressing fashionably doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice comfort. In this case, you should actively seek comfort in your New Year’s Eve outfit. Choose shapewear or lingerie that works with your outfit, but is also one of the most comfortable things you own. You’re going to be wearing it for a long time, as well as eating, drinking, dancing, laughing and sweating in it. So the last thing you want is something that’s too tight, chafes, rubs, or causes you any form of discomfort at all. Trust us, your thighs will thank you!
Bring Out Your Inner Sparkle
It wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve without a bit of glamour. Sparkly, shiny and glittery is the name of the game at this time of year, so don’t be afraid to make some more daring wardrobe choices. That includes with your lingerie! Wear the hot pink bra, the sparkly tights, the snakeskin corset and the peacock patterned slip. Though maybe don’t wear all of those at the same time! If you think it might be a little over the top, you’re probably about right. Who knows, you might discover the confidence to wear your bold colours at other times of the year too.
Wear The Right Size
If you’re going out on the town and want to look amazing, then it can be tempting to wear everything a bit tight – including your underwear. And while wearing some bras too tight can create a nice cleavage effect, most will just give you back pain by halfway through the night and make you incredibly uncomfortable. If you want to add a little extra oomph to your bust, invest in some enhancer inserts (which can be silicone or fabric) or use body tape to create a perky look with that low-backed strapless dress. But please, wear underwear that fits you!
Keep Your Underwear Under Your Clothes
Let’s face it, New Year’s Eve can get a bit crazy! Drinking, dancing and generally letting your hair down after a tough year can feel great, and we want you to enjoy it to the fullest. But in all that craziness it becomes a bit easier to miss seemingly obvious things. You know, wardrobe malfunctions like tucking your dress into your knickers and giving everyone a free show of body parts that you really didn’t want to show the public. Or your low-cut dress slipping and exposing that beautiful bold bra. Or maybe even leaving your fantastic New Year’s Eve underwear at someone else’s house! Your underwear belongs under your clothing, and if you remember that rule you’ll be OK.
Consider Colours
Ok, this one is more a bit of fun than a rule. Apparently, the colour of the underwear you wear on New Year’s Eve is supposed to determine the kind of luck you will have for the next 12 months, so it could be worth bearing it in mind! For example:
Red: Love, romance and amorous activities, of course! If you’re ready for a new romance, fling or you’re just tired of being single, try red!
White: Means peace, tranquillity and calm. If the last few years have been too much chaos for you, white could help remind you to breathe, and relax into the new year.
Black: Wear black if you’re ready to assert yourself and take back control. It’s streamlined and organised and will help you take charge of things.
Yellow: The colour of money, yellow signified money and wealth. Maybe you’ll finally get promoted, or land your dream job.
Green: Attract adventure and change. Green underwear could give you the burst of energy you need, or send you down a new path in your life. If you want 2023 to include a change of scenery, wear green.
Above all, remember to have fun! 2022 has been a difficult year for everyone, so you deserve to have some fun. Stay safe, dress so that you feel fierce, and don’t forget to tag us in your pictures on social media!
