Love it or hate it, Halloween is undoubtedly the best night of the year for those of us who love a bit of a dress up! It’s an opportunity to get utterly creative and throw caution into the wind. So if you need a bit of inspiration, or even just an excuse for why you should just do it, these are the reasons that a bit of a Halloween dressing up is good for you…
It’s creative
You don’t have to dress up as a specific character. On Halloween anything goes. So if you just fancy donning a stripy pair of tights or bat print dress (or both!) then why not? Adding a bit of variety into your wardrobe can make us feel way more energetic. And 31st October is the ideal excuse. You can experiment with colours and no one cares if they clash. Try out your most exuberant eye shadow combinations and spray colour your hair. This chance to play with colour can bring an injection of joy into the day. And who can’t benefit from that?
You can feel sexy
With sultry vampires and wicked devils a standard trope for Halloween dressing up, this is a great occasion for some sexy role play. This is very much the season when hold ups, fishnets and corsets are outer wear rather than underwear! A structured black corset can be the basis for a witch, a witch’s cat, a vampire, or a bat. White corsets will make for a sexy corpse bride, or go red for more devilish designs. Dressing sexy is most importantly for you, and doing it under the guise of Halloween dress up can offer the perfect excuse to boost your confidence.
Embrace your inner kid
Maybe you have kids who you take trick or treating. Dressing up alongside them opens the door to enjoying Halloween night from a child’s perspective. Or perhaps you don’t have kids but enjoy scaring the ones who show up at your door! Costumes are a way to allow yourself the freedom to play in the most essential way. And that’s really good for the soul. Leave complex grown up worries on the shelf for one night and allow yourself to be a big kid.
Good honest escapism
Halloween is a celebration that’s all about storytelling. From ghost stories to remembering the legacies of the dead. It’s pure, unadulterated fantasy and reminiscence. So for one night, whether you’re hosting a party or roaming your neighbourhood, you exist in another realm. You get out what you put into this experience, and dressing up is your ticket to envelop yourself in a spooky fantasy land. It’s an escapism that brings something a bit more exciting than the day to day.
Curvelicious!
Across the calendar of seasonal dress up occasions, Halloween very much lends itself to curvy figures. With a waist cinching foundation and cleavage maxing bra, a character based dress up looks super sexy. And stripy tights look amazing on strong legs. So we want to take this holiday and run with it as a time for fun, sexiness and going the whole hog.
True, dressing up isn’t for everyone, and not everyone has to indulge. But if you have even the slightest urge to get your Halloween on, we’re here to say “go for it”!
